Pharmacist | University of Miami | Miami, FL The staff pharmacist shall carry out duties assigned by the Director, Assistant Director, or Clinical Manager. These functions shall be carried out in accordance with all federal/state laws, JCAHO standards, and hospital/departmental policies and procedures. The staff pharmacist is expected to interpret, prepare/compound, and dispense medications and other pharmaceutical supplies according to written prescriptions issued by authorized prescribers. They must also provide drug information to health care professionals and patients as requested, and actively participate in the provision of the various clinical pharmacy programs and services provided by the department that enhance the pharmaceutical care by identifying, assessing and solving medication related problems. Inherent in that responsibility is the promotion of safe, efficacious, and cost-effective medication therapy. The pharmacist must plan, organize, and direct his/her workflow and efforts to achieve these goals. Organizational relationships include being directly accountable to the Director and Assistant Director of Pharmacy. The pharmacist is directly responsible for the supervision and activities of pharmacy technicians in the direct work environment, and they must assume the essential responsibilities and duties to manage the department in the absence of the Director and Assistant Director. Requirements: Graduate of ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy, with a minimum of a bachelor degree in pharmacy or graduate of a foreign school of pharmacy and successfully completed the foreign pharmacist equivalence exam. Licensed by Florida Board of Pharmacy. Completion of one year of hospital pharmacy experience. Any combination of relevant education, work experience, and / or certifications will be considered.
